The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

The depth of the play, "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," far surpasses the 1960s Gene Pitney pop song of the same name.  The stage version concerns an array of fair and decent people, who despite their different life experiences, are like minded in their dedication to justice and equality.  Set in 1890 and 1910, the costuming reflects not only the dusty western wear of the inhabitants of Two Trees, but also the attire of educated easterner, Ransome Foster.  Ransome, in frock coat, tie and vest befitting the role he assumes as teacher and lawyer, is in sharp contrast to the rugged western clothing and deportment of Hallie, Bert, Jim and other townspeople.
